Okay, so I just stumbled upon the second image, a tattoo by Kyle Morrison of Chicago, and immediately remembered the first image, a tattoo by Steve Byrne of Texas which has been bouncing around online for many years. Um, WAY too similar, especially the banners, clouds, and color choices. I think the borrowing is a bit too heavy and apparent…what do you all think?

I don’t know.. They are different enough not to really bother me. It’s not like a straight trace.

The girls totally different, the banner is different minus the lettering which everyone uses and the hearts.. Clouds are pretty common.. There’s a dagger etc.
A lot of tattooers rip each other off and sometimes clients ask for specific tattoos..

  15. fictionincarnate said: I’m a huge fan of Steve’s work and I do think the borrowing is incredibly heavy, however I think that the person did a good thing by not copying directly. They obviously knew enough that even though they loved it, they couldn’t have it exactly.
