I have tried arches watercolor paper for the first time today. I think I’m in love. It’s so much easier to paint on. I’m also doing this one backwards or whatever from what i usually do so I’ll be adding the blacks in last.

I ran across this old rose I drew/painted about 6 months ago.It’s good to look at old stuff like this because a lot of the time I beat myself and tell myself I’m not making progress.I can see though that I am changing and learning. I have a long ways to go and I hope in another six months I can look back on the rose I just posted and see all my mistakes and feel like I’m moving forward. Also!Thanks Steve for the tips! I have a hard time drawing the buds of roses, It’s super challenging for some reason. I think I’m going to take out the top right couple of leaves and work on the bud a little if I can figure out where to start and then repaint it!

I just finished this little watercolor. I did something I wouldn’t normally do by adding all the excess leaves. Not sure how I feel about that. Im most likely going to redraw it a bit and paint it on nicer paper. I think I may try painting light to dark or just figuring out why my blacks don’t look as smooth as I would like. Experimentation to come! Woot and stuff.
